Condemning the drone attacks, Millat-i-Jafaria Pakistan chief Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi has said, "Drone attacks have hit our sovereignty, developed hatred against the United States, and these must be stopped forthwith, while target killing had created a state of insecurity and panic among the people."
Talking to newsmen here on Friday, he said that suicide bombers were being manufactured in the factories of extremists, and were being financed by hidden hands. He said, "We Shias are feeling unsafe and insecure in Pakistan, and now we have decided to protest in Islamabad very soon to protect our lives and properties."
There would be a flood of thousands of Shias, which could not be arrested, he said, and called the parliament a rubberstamp, which failed to redress the grievances of the masses. Sajid favoured military operation in southern Punjab because he said that extremists mostly belonged to this zone. However, he endorsed the demand for creation of 'Seraiki' province and said that it must be constituted.
He said: "We had presented a memorandum to President Asif Ali Zardari and Interior Minister Rehman Malik and asked them to protect the lives and properties of Shias." He said that the government failed to achieve the objective of elimination of Taliban and extremists in Swat, Malakand and Buner.
He said that incidents of kidnapping for ransom were increasing to alarming extent. He said that situation has changed temporarily after the death of Baitullah Mehsud, and Taliban were reorganising themselves while religious organisations had no force to protect themselves.
