Trading community of Peshawar established a new trade body, Sarhad Traders' Alliance, and Khalid Ayub was unanimously elected its chairman. Others office-bearers are included Chaudhry Waris (Deputy Chairman), Khaista Khan (patron-in-chief), Amanullah Khan (president), Nadir Khan (senior vice president), Mohammad Yusuf (vice president), Jehanzeb Khan (general secretary), and Faiz Rasool Khan as chief co-ordinator.
On this occasion, a large number of traders relating to Hoteliers Association, Bakers Associations, Anjuman-e-Nanbainan, Karahi Ticka Association, Cooked Tea Sellers, Milk Sellers and Dry Fruit Sellers were also present. The newly elected chairman thanked the business community for showing confidence in him and assured them of concerted efforts to resolve their problems.
The gathering of the business community also discussed the matter of the diversion of the traffic on the service road on University Road and condemned the strategy of the traffic police in this regard. They called for immediate shifting of the vehicular traffic on the main road, saying the plying of mini-buses on service road are causing accidents.
They demanded of the Chief Minister NWFP Ameer Haider Khan Hoti for diverting the vehicular traffic on the main University Road before the occurrence of big mishap. In failure of the acceptance of their demand, the leaders of the Sarhad Traders' Alliance (STA) warned of launching protest movement against the traffic authorities of Peshawar.
