The rupee managed to hold its overnight level against the dollar at the weekend for buying and selling at 82.57 and 82.62, dealers said. The commercial centres reopened on Saturday after observing one-day holiday on account of Independence Day, they said. At the weekend in New York yen gained against euro and dollar after a report showed US consumer sentiment worsened in August, adding to concerns about a recovery for the world's largest economy and prompting a rise in risk aversion.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee inched up with five paisa rise against dollar for buying and selling at 82.65 and 82.75, they said. The rupee, however, shed the same amount in terms of euro for buying and selling at Rs 116.35 and Rs 116.85, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee showed stability and remained unchanged against dollar in Lahore currency market on Saturday. According to dealers, the dollar was traded on Thursday's Rs 82.80 and Rs 83.10 on buying and selling sides, respectively. Similarly, the rupee stayed unchanged in relation to pound amid sluggish trading trend. The pound's buying and selling rates stayed unchanged at previous level of Rs 135.00 and Rs 136.50, respectively. There was a variation in the pound's value, as a few moneychangers quoted Rs 135.50 and Rs 136.50 for buying and selling rates, respectively.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar-rupee parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Saturday. The dollar opened at Rs 82.70 (buying) and Rs 82.80 (selling) against the same last rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 82.70 (buying) and Rs 82.80 (selling). Pound sterling opened at Rs 135.40 (buying) and Rs 136.40 (selling) against the last rate of Rs 136.40 (buying) and Rs 137.40 (selling). It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 135.40 (buying) and Rs 136.40 (selling).
