A 14-member cultural troupe from Ministry of Culture has left here for China to participate and perform at 11th Asian Arts Festival. The delegation comprises the members of National Performing Arts Group that will participate in a series of rich and colorful activities depicting Pakistani traditional performing arts in the festival.
Headed by Abdul Sattar Khokhar, the delegation includes Abid Hussain, Syed Sohail Hussain, Arslan, Muhammad Azeem Haidery, Najam-ul-Hassan, Imran, Zarqa Chaudhry, Sumbal Arshad, Muskan Ahmad, Saima Saleem, Mehwish and Uzma Ashraf.
The National Performing Arts Group also participated in the recently held International Children's Culture and Arts Festival Tianjin, China which was sponsored by Chinese People's Association for Friendship with foreign countries, an official of Pakistan National Council of the Arts told APP here on Monday. 'Peace, Friendship and Future' was the theme of the festival in which children from over 100 countries representing 5 continents participated in the festival.
Highlighting the rich cultural norms and traditions of Pakistan, 18-member team comprised students from Roots School International, School of South Asia and Pakistan National Council Dance School. The performers showcased Mehndi (Traditional group dance from the Punjab Region), Traditional group dance from NWFP, Punjabi and Chinese songs, Kathak dance and Moenjodaro girl dance. Meanwhile, a four-member delegation from Pakistan is also participating in the Asia Cultural Ministerial Roundtable Meeting Ordos, China from August 16 to 21.
