Rich tributes were paid to the popular and revolutionary poet Ahmed Faraz Sunday night at a function held on his 1st death anniversary. The programme held at Jackson Hights, Queens, New York City in collaboration of Khyber Society and cultural organisations, was presided over by Rafiq Jan, a philanthropist and head of the Jan Foundation.
Speakers at these moments hailed the poet by calling him an "advocate for the poor and downtrodden" and a "passionate voice for change and progress". Faraz's was usually at his best when writing the poetry of love and protest.
