The Revenue Officers having special judicial powers have initiated action against the profiteers and hoarders of edible items in Hyderabad district. The DCO Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri saying this further said that the Revenue Magistrates have been directed to pay surprise visits of the markets of their respective areas and to take stern legal action against the shopkeepers in case they found involved in profiteering.
He also directed to ensure that all edible items made available and price lists issued by the marketing committees affixed in front of their shops. He also informed that the intelligence network has been spread over in the district to detect hoarding of any edible items and whosoever found in this malpractice would be dealt with iron hands.
Subsequently the DDO Hyderabad Rural Lal Mangi on Monday called a meeting of all wholesalers, retailers, and other market-oriented agencies and officers of Sindh Police at his camp office Tandojam.
Addressing the meeting he directed the shopkeepers to refrain from the illegal profiteering and asked the officials of marketing committee to supply up-to-date price list to the shopkeepers accordingly. He said that to meet short comings if any in the supply of edible items mobile utility shops have been arranged while the availability of flour would be ensured at each shop on government price.
He said that complaint centres have been established in different government offices and advised the people to lodge their complaint if any without any hesitation so that the black sheep of the markets not only to be exposed but also action would be taken against them. Similarly, the DDOs and Mukhtiarkars of Revenue Department in other talukas have also launched anti-profiteering campaign in their talukas.
