NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani has said that the Shringle campus of Malakand University in Upper Dir district would soon be upgraded to the status of a complete University, adding that efforts were afoot for construction of a new campus building and appointment of its Vice Chancellor.
He was talking to the Federal Minister for SAFRON Najmuddin Khan, who along with members of NWFP Assembly Badshah Saleh and Munawwar Khan called on him at Frontier House Islamabad on Monday. The former Vice Chancellor, Malakand University Jehandad Shah was also present on the occasion. It merits mentioning here that the President Asif Ali Zardari had already approved the establishment of Benazir Bhutto University, whereas the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had announced Rs 470 million grants for the University campus.
The Governor said that it would be the second public sector educational institution of its kind in Malakand Division and all possible steps would be taken to make its establishment and development possible. Najmuddin, who is also MNA from Upper Dir while talking on the occasion, thanked the President Asif Ali Zardari for approving charter of the University and the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani for announcing a huge grant for construction of the University campus. He said that this epoch-making project would prove a milestone in the socio-economic progress and prosperity of the people of the area.
