Singh's statement regarding planned attack: India should provide evidence, says Qureshi
Condemning Indian Prime Minster's allegations that another attack in being planned from Pakistan on India, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said India should provide evidence if it has any solid proof about reported plan to attack on India from Pakistani.
"Pakistan is a peace loving country and is working for bringing peace and stability in the region and it wants to have friendly relations with all neighbours including India", he said while talking to media here on Tuesday.
He said Pakistan has taken serious note of the Indian Prime Minister statement regarding apprehension about new terrorists attacks' being planned from Pakistan and protest has been lodged with India by summoning Deputy High Commissioner of India to Foreign Office.
"Pakistan has always condemned terrorism in its all forms at each forum and the international community has appreciated Pakistan's stance in this regard", he maintained. To a question, Qureshi said that the United States wants long term relations with Pakistan and keeping in view the importance of serious challenges being faced by Pakistan the US has decided to increase our financial assistance by threefold.
Describing his talks with Richard Hollbrrok, the Foreign Minister said it was for the first time that the United States has taken seriously the priorities set by Pakistan. He said Pakistan has asked US to help in overcoming power crises and improving economy. He said the world should focus on agenda for socio-economic uplift of the people especially in the troubled areas and it is matter of satisfaction that the international community has realised supporting Pakistani agenda.
The Foreign Minister said that the US considers Friends of Democratic Pakistan as very important forum to recover economy of Pakistan and its importance reflects that President Obama will co-chair the Forum in its summit meeting in New York in September.
Commenting on adverse remarks of the Indian Foreign Minster regarding transfer of drone's technology to Pakistan, the Foreign Minister said that Pakistan has never interfere in Indian affairs, therefore India must refrain from giving comments regarding Pakistan.
He said India is busy in arms race and enhanced its defence expenditures manifold but Pakistan has never objected on it but at the same time it is not ignorant of the situation and is committed to maintain balance of power in the region that is vital for peace.
Earlier, addressing a seminar on Pak-Nepal relations, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that both countries enjoy very cordial relation and they have common stance on almost all major regional and international issues. He said both countries are co-operating in various fields hoping that this will further increase with the passage of time. He said Pakistan has provided assistance to the Nepalese Armed forces in enhancing their capacity. He said that expansion in trade and financial ties between the two countries is of vital importance for the region.
