Holbrooke urged to stop drone attacks, release Dr Aafia

Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan has urged the US to halt its drone attacks inside Pakistan and release Dr Aafia Siddiqui immediately, besides shirking from the adventurism of beefing up US marines' presence at its (US) embassy in Islamabad. JI secretary general Liaquat Baloch stated this while talking to Richard Holbrook, US special envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan during a meeting here on Tuesday.
Liaquat Baloch said that the drone attacks were compounding anti-American sentiments in Pakistan, and such strikes would be counter-productive in the long run. He said that the overwhelming majority of Pakistanis were opposed to extremism and militancy.
