Parliamentary leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Dr Farooq Sattar has said his party submitted adjournment motion in National Assembly against abolishing of local governments' system. Talking to journalists outside parliament house on Tuesday.
He expressed hope that the speaker National Assembly will hold discussion over the motion, as local government system are the nurseries of democracy and it should not be derailed. He called upon all the political parties to be united against any move to sabotage the local government system.
He said that his party has no objection over temporary appointment of administrators in place of nazims but the government should give timeframe for holding local government elections on time. He urged the president and prime minister to bring to fore a clear-cut stance in this regard, saying that this is the first step to empower people and strengthen democracy in the country.
