Senator Adnan Khan was elected unopposed as Chairman of Senate Standing Committee on Investment and Privatisation. His name was proposed by Senator Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Khan and seconded by Senator Abdur Rahim Khan Mandokhel. The Senate Standing Committee on Investment and Privatisation met at the Parliament House on Tuesday to elect its Chairman as contemplated by Rule 163(1) of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 1988.
The Special Secretary, Senate of Pakistan Iftikharullah Babar conducted the proceedings of the election. Senator Adnan Khan thanked the Members of the Committee for reposing confidence in him and assured that he would rise above party divide and work in the greatest interest of the country and the nation. He vowed to make all out efforts to facilitate the investors to invest in our country. He said investment and privatisation had a vital role in the overall progress of the country.
Members of the Committee congratulated the newly elected Chairman on his unanimous election and assured full co-operation to him in the discharge of his duties. They underscored the need for striking a balance between nationalisation and privatisation. Leader of the House in the Senate, Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, also expressed the hope that the Committee would come up to the expectations of the people and the business community.
