People of remote area grappling with serious problems: MNA from Chitral turns up just to mark attendance
Member National Assembly (MNA) from Chitral Shahzada Mohiuddin remains tight-lipped about many burning issues of his constituency throughout the National Assembly session.
The MNA, who is usually accused of not taking serious interest in many development programmes concerning Chitral especially the long-standing Lowari Tunnel project, keeps on sleeping most of the time during the session of the National Assembly.
The people of the remote area, who have voted him to power to raise the issues and problems being confronted by them, have been kept aloof by the MNA. On the other hand, MNAs including those elected to the house for the first time as well as women members belonging to different parts of the country do not waste time in raising even trivial issues in the house, but the Chitrali MNA just comes to the house to mark the attendance and leaves the hall in a sleepy state after the long session as he seems to have nothing to ask - and even nothing to worry about.
The noisy questions and hard-hitting speeches made by different members of the house, however, keeps 'the prince' awake again and again and sometimes he suddenly wakes up, perhaps after dreaming Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali (a former MNA) taking the floor in the house.
It is pertinent to mention that the work on the most vital Lowari Tunnel project was stopped in the wake of Malakand operation against Taliban militants in May this year but even at that time the MNA seemed hesitant to raise the issue on the floor of the house. He also did not bother to ask a single question when four innocent Chitrali passengers were slaughtered by Taliban terrorists in Bajaur area in the beginning of July this year.
