Syed Munawar Hasan, Ameer Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan has said the government is helping the US to establish a military base in Islamabad, which was a plot against nuclear assets and sovereignty of the country. "The US military base in Islamabad would be a threat to our nuclear assets of Pakistan, specially Kahuta Research Laboratories", Munawar said while addressing a protest rally here on Tuesday.
The rally was organised by JI, which started from Aabpara Chowk and after marching on Khayaban e Suharwardy it culminated at embassy road. A largely attended protest rally was attended by people from different walks of life.
The participants of the rally were carrying placards and raising slogans against the US as well as the plan to expand the US embassy in Islamabad. The rally started from Aabpara Chowk and culminated at embassy road. JI chief said that people of Pakistan are vigilant and they would not allow any misadventure against their nuclear assets. People of Pakistan would lay down their lives for the protection of this nuclear assets, he added.
He said the US under the garb of expansion of the embassy wants to establish a military base here to bring its military personnel and marines for permanent stay. "The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has handed over land to Americans in lieu of nominal price. The CDA is slave of America and big slaves are the President and the Prime Minister of the country", he said.
"The Muslim countries are replete with the sources and the US wants to capture them in the name of war on terror. It is the need of hour to keep alive the concept of 'Jehad' as the whole Muslim Ummah is imbibed with that spirit," he urged.
He said that until Nato forces are present in the region terrorism could not be eliminated as opt to indulge in extremism due to hatred against the US. "It is in best interest of the Nato and the US to leave the South Asian region as early as possible to help end the extremism and terrorism from this region", he added.
JI leader said that the Supreme Court termed unconstitutional the acts of General Pervez Musharraf (Retd). "Now, it is the responsibility of the government to try Pervez Musharraf under article 6 of the constitution. "We demanded of the government and parliament not to surrender before external forces and prepare a charge sheet against Musharraf," he said.
