Indonesian shares ended 2.23 percent higher on Thursday, led by bargain buying by local funds in commodity-related stocks on the back of higher oil prices, dealers said. The Jakarta Composite Index rose 50.88 points to 2,328.63 in moderate trade. "The main index managed to close above the important level of 2,300, which could suggest that buying may continue tomorrow," a trader told Dow Jones Newswires.
Coal miner Bumi Resources gained 3.4 percent to 3,025 rupiah and palm oil company Bakrie Sumatra added 4.6 percent to 910. Bank Negara Indonesia rose 4.7 percent to 1,990 on bargain buying.
