COMEX copper futures rallied early on Friday with equity markets after US existing home sales came in stronger than expected, traders said. Copper for September delivery topped resistance at a prior high of $2.84 a lb and soared to a peak at $2.8460 a lb, up 10.45 cents, a near 3.75 percent gain on the New York Mercantile Exchange's COMEX division.
