Hub Salt Pvt Ltd has assured Sindh government that it would set up two more modern salt lakes and plants in Mithi town of district Tharparkar soon. This was informed by the Secretary Mines and Minerals Development Department of Sindh government, Aijaz Khan in a letter written to the Chief Secretary after conducting a visit of the site recently, sources told Business Recorder on Friday.
They said that Hub Salt had established a salt lake and plant at a village Lekoria, taluka Diplo, some 70 kilometers away from Mithi. The company has so far invested Rs 190 million. There is a great potential for salt export and its industrial use domestically besides huge demand in the international market, they added. The representative of the Company met the secretary had assured that they would establish two more salt lakes and plants at the site if the road to the plants is constructed as soon as possible, they said.
According to source, the economic activity has started in the area due to setting up of modern salt lake and plant while the old world war trucks commonly known as 'Kekra' in vernacular are being used to transport the salt to the main point and then transported to the other major cities of the provinces with the help of heavy trucks and trawlers.
