A section of a century-old bridge collapsed, killing two people and injuring 20 others in eastern India on Tuesday following heavy monsoon rains. A truck, two cars and a cart carrying people plunged nearly 20 feet (6 meters) into the Sakari river in Navada district of Bihar state, said Anil Kumar Yadav, superintendent of police.
Ten people were hospitalised with serious injuries, Yadav told The Associated Press. The water in the river was about 5 feet (1.5 meters) deep, Yadav said. The district was lashed by heavy monsoon rains this week.
