Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) here Tuesday extended its ongoing exhibition on `Treasures of World Heritage Sites in Pakistan' for two weeks. The exhibition has been extended in a bid to create awareness among the masses with special emphasis as a shared legacy of humanity with outstanding universal values.
The purpose of holding the event is to create the collection of photographs of the World Heritage Sites in Pakistan with accompanying documentation in the form of a publication, said Musarat Nahid Imam. The photographs expose the most cherished values of the sites and the publication capture the wealth of cultures and diversity of nature from all corners of Pakistan.
Around 100 colored images of seven heritage sites declared by UNESCO as important monuments in Pakistan include Rohtas Fort, Archaeological Ruins at Mohenjodaro, Buddhist Ruins at Takht Bahi, Taxila, Lahore Fort and Shalamar Gardens and the Historical Monuments of Thatta. Pakistan being the signatory of the international convention to safeguard the world heritage sites stands committed to promote the cause and its rich and diversified treasures are highly valued in the world. Pakistan is a melting pot of cultures and civilisations and has a rich cultural heritage as each traveller, conqueror and sage has left an imprint, adding a step to the cultural evolution of the region.
