Need for effective CSR concept in business community stressed

Ateeq-ur-Rehman, Chairman Banking and Insurance Sub-Committee, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has expressed the need to introduce the concept of effective CSR in the business community. He was addressing a CSR focus group meeting organised by Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), a non-profit affiliate of the US Chamber of Commerce.
He said that a large number of KCCI members had adopted CSR practices, and being the largest chamber in the country, our chamber had raised sizable CSR funding through which we were supporting various charitable projects. Having said that, it was astonishing to learn that our understanding of CSR was unclear, hence what we mostly do was corporate philanthropy/charity.-PR
