A plan is afoot to set up village book clubs and libraries across the country to inculcate the habit of reading among the youth. Sources told APP here on Friday that as many as ten village book clubs would be established initially in different parts of the country.
The sources said the book clubs and libraries would be set up in collaboration with National Book Foundation (NBF) and National Library, which would help facilitate students and general masses. Renowned writers, poets, scholars, intellectuals and men of letters, would provide books for these clubs adding that the space would be provided by philanthropists, they added.
They said National Book Foundation was plying important role in promoting book-reading culture in the society. NBF has requested the provincial and local governments to allocate space, at least two rooms-one for reading and one for keeping books.
