Punjab government under the leadership of Shahbaz Sharif is taking practical steps to introduce uniform education system in the province and under this programme the subjects of maths and science would be taught in English language and all the schools in public sector would be made English medium by 2011.
This was stated by Muhammad Aslam Kamboh, Programme Director, Directorate of Staff Development, Schools Education Department, while addressing a seminar, here on Sunday. Chairman Education & Research Department of Punjab University, Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal, EDO (Education) Dr Muhammad Arshad and other also spoke.
Muhamamd Aslam Kamboh said that there is a tendency of getting admission in private educational institutions because of being English medium and keeping in view this fact, the Punjab Chief Minister has formed a 37-Member representative committee for introducing uniform and equal system of education besides working on medium of education, education system and teachers training.
EDO Education Lahore Dr Arshad said that the country needed a similar educational system which produce youngsters who could face the challenges at the global level. Various proposals regarding medium of education, examination system and teachers training were floated by different groups on this occasion.
