Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has condemned the increase in petrol prices, which in his opinion, would further escalate inflation. He expressed these views while addressing an Iftar dinner here on Tuesday, which was organised by the PTI Youth Wing. PTI central leader Omer Cheema and others PTI leaders were also present on the occasion.
Imran Khan said that people are already pushed against the wall and finding hard to cope with the high prices of everyday goods and the government's decision to enhance the prices of petroleum goods would further exacerbate the situation. He observed that the people have never witnessed an expensive Ramazan that of this year. He also showed concern over the appointment of new judges.
He advised the government to appoint new judges purely on merit and it should be transparent. In his opinion, this is a critical issue, as appointment of judges based on political affiliation would make the nation's two-year struggle for independent judiciary meaningless and all would go to waste. The PTI chief observed that corruption has increased in the last one year and the people are hapless, as they find hard to get their grievances addressed. "It seems that the government's priority lies somewhere else," he added.
