Hard red winter wheat futures fell to a nine-month low at the Kansas City Board of Trade on Wednesday on pressure from abundant supplies and light demand around the globe, traders said. September hard red winter wheat futures fell 3 cents to $4.91-1/4 a bushel, its lowest close since settling at $4.89-3/4 a bushel on December 5, 2008.
The December contract dropped 3-1/4 cents to $5.07 a bushel. Egypt's GASC buys 330,000 tonnes of wheat for October 1-10 shipment, including 60,000 tonnes of US soft red winter wheat. Egypt's GASC tightens wheat quality specifications. Japan buys feed wheat via SBS tender. Satisfactory weather continues for harvest of the US spring wheat crop but harvesting well behind average pace due to late seedings of the crop.
