US rice futures on the Chicago Board of Trade slipped on Wednesday, falling for the second straight day amid spillover weakness from other CBOT markets as traders eye big crops. September ended down 9 cents at $13.62-1/2 per cwt. November closed 7-1/2 lower at $13.85. Volume was thin with nearly all the trade made in November. No deliveries on September.
Asian prices mostly steady weak to weak. Most grades of Thai rice were little changed, with benchmark 100 percent B grade white rice holding at $540 a tonne. Weekly world market price for long grain rough rice unchanged at $11.31 per cwt. US harvest underway in top producer Arkansas. Early harvest reports indicated strong yields, traders said.
