Indonesian shares closed flat on Friday due to late buying in selected telecoms and auto stocks, dealers said. The Jakarta Composite Index gained 0.05 points to finish at 2,322.30. "Late buying in select telecom and auto stocks pushed the index slightly higher," a trader told Dow Jones Newswires.
Telkom advanced 0.6 percent to 4,500 rupiah, while car distributor Astra International climbed 1.2 percent to 29,400 rupiah. Food maker Indofood shed 4.5 percent to 2,650 rupiah, while energy company Medco lost 2.6 percent to 2,850 rupiah. The rupiah closed at 10,122 to the dollar compared to 10,120 at the last clos.
