The Executive District Officer (EDO), Revenue Hyderabad has informed that the revenue officers having special judicial powers have recovered a total fine of Rs 31,350/- from 100 shopkeepers and persons on account of charging high prices from people for essential commodities and violation of Ehtram-e-Ramzan Act on September 3 and 4, 2009.
The EDO Revenue further warned the shopkeepers to sell the essential items as per fixed rates, failing which their act will be treated as offence punishable with imprisonment of term which may be extended to three years and with fine may be extended to Rs 100, 000/- under the prevailing law.
