Multan's administration warned transporters to charge a fixed fare from commuters, otherwise their vehicles would be impounded in the police stations. Secretary Multan Regional Transport Authority (RTA)issued this warning to the transporters and said that strict action would be also taken against those transporters fleecing the consumers. He conducted a check at various routes and imposed heavy fines to public transport vehicles over the non-completion of routes.
As many as 16 vehicles, of different routes, were impounded in the Secretariat police station for running without a route permit. He also gave the assurance that the complaints of the commuters would be redressed on the spot and the vehicles impounded for their involvement in over-charging.
Meanwhile, the spokesman stated that the Secretary Multan Transport Authority (RTA) had conducted traffic checks, on different routes, and fined 165 public service vehicles and impounded several vehicles for traffic and route violations and for plying the vehicles without a route permit.
He also imposed fines worth Rs 35,800 on the vehicles, for various violations during the last week. According to details, Secretary RTA, during the traffic checking on various routes, impounded 18 vehicles and fined 165 vehicles for various traffic violations, including the non-completion of routes and for plying the vehicles without a route permit during the last week.
He said that the DCO Multan Khurram Ali Agha had also directed the traffic police and Secretary RTA to expedite the issuance of stickers to those PSVs that possessed the vehicle's complete documents, so that vehicles without permit could be identified easily during checking on the roads. He also directed the traffic authorities to attend to the complaints of commuters, on the spot and provide them relief.
