The Lahore High Court here Monday adjourned the hearing of a petition seeking transfer of investigation of Benazir Bhutto's assassination case from Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to police. The petition was filed by Protocol Officer of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam.
The petitioner had contended that probe into the former premier's assassination should be handed over to the police as he had already filed a petition regarding registration of case against Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik, who is also the head of the FIA. The murder of Benazir Bhutto was an international conspiracy wherein Pervez Musharraf and respondents were involved.
He had pointed out that Rehman Malik and Babar Awan changed BB's route while they both had fled from the scene in a car which they were not allowed to use as per protocol plan. He maintained that only Farhat ullah Babar was allowed to sit in that car.
The Lahore High Court has already issued notices to Pervez Musharraf, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Babar Awan, former Chief Minister Punjab Pervaiz Elahi and other 12 persons for September 28 in the petitioner's application seeking registration of FIR against them.
The other respondents include former Director General Intelligence Bureau, Ejaz Shah, former Chief Minister Punjab Pervez Elahi, former Care Taker Interior Minister, Hamid Nawaz, Interior Secretary Kamal Shah and former Spokesman of Interior Ministry Javed Iqbal Cheema.
