The price of Dai Ammonium Phosphate (DAP), an essential crop nutrient, has jumped by Rs 70 per 50 kg bag across the country due to its acute scarcity in the domestic market in the wake of rising demand, sources said. DAP use in the country is increasing gradually due to massive shortage of urea, which has put a negative impact on its prices.
As a result, its price is on the rise in the domestic market, they added. They said local producing companies and importers have increased the price of DAP by Rs 60-70 per 50 kg bag since Saturday. Its price has now mounted to Rs 2,045 per 50 kg bag against Rs 1975 previously, they added. They said that despite government's announcement that all nutrients including urea and DAP will be available at reasonable rates, the prices of these nutrients are going up in the local market.
"DAP price has been increased by dealers after companies and importers' announcement, and now they (dealers) are selling commodity at the new price," sources said. They said that DAP prices have been increased across the country particularly in Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Muzafar Ghar, Bahwalpur, interior Sindh and other areas of Sindh and in the some areas of Punjab they are selling at Rs 2100 per 50 kg bag.
At present demand of DAP is on the rise due to slow supply of urea. DAP price and demand are increasing constantly for last one months and some Rs 200 per 50 kg bag raise has been witnessed in DAP price from Rs 1845 per bag in first week of August.
