The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is striving to bring political stability in the country and the party is playing the role of opposition in a more responsible manner to achieve this goal. Senior Political Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister and PML-N Secretary Finance, Muhammad Pervez Malik told Business Recorder that the PML-N was raising voice for good governance and the creation of a corruption-free society.
Therefore, he added, the PPP-led government should fulfill its responsibilities vis-a-vis creation of corruption-free society and resolution of the problems faced by the people. The PML-N leader further said the party would emerge as the most organised and effective political force across the country as a result of reorganisation process that would be started after Eid.
He said PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif had called for strengthening the party organisation being a key to political strength and success on every front. About sugar prices, he said sugar mill owners needed to realise the problems of the people and should accept the decision of the Lahore High Court regarding reduction in sugar price, otherwise, he warned, the government would be forced to launch a crackdown against them.
He said the 'sugar mafia' should abstain from blackmailing the government and resume supply of the commodity in the market. The government would not allow profiteers to fleece the people, he added. Pervez Malik said the LHC's directive for the sale of sugar at Rs 40 per kg was appreciable, which sugar millers and dealers should implement in letter and spirit. He said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was sincerely working for public welfare and spending resources for the betterment of the masses.
MPA Zeb Jaffar, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister, said the PML-N would not become a part of any conspiracy against the democracy. "The PML-N leaders and workers rendered great sacrifices for the restoration of democracy in the country. Today, the country is passing through a critical period of history and we could not bear democracy's failure," she said. She said politically conscious people could not be hoodwinked being aware of the ground realities including the past incidents.
