Soyabean futures on the Chicago Board of Trade jumped at midsession on Thursday as traders covered short positions ahead of the US Department of Agriculture's monthly crop report on Friday, traders said. Front-month September, which expires next week, jumped 17-1/2 cents in very light volume, while deferred months were up 3 to 5 cents.
As of 10:18 am CDT (1518 GMT), September soyabeans were up 17-1/2 cents at $9.79 a bushel, with most-active November up 3-1/4 cents at $9.31-3/4. September wheat up 2-1/4 cents at $4.31-1/4 per bushel, December up 2-3/4 at $4.59. September corn up 1 cent at $3.06-1/2 per bushel, December up 2-1/2 at $3.12-1/4.
