The Pakistan Railways would operate three special Eid trains from Karachi on September 18 and 19 to accommodate the huge number of passengers leaving for upcountry destinations to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their families. Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO), Karachi Railway Division, Kashif Usufani told APP that two specials Eid trains for Rawalpindi and Sargodha will leave from Karachi Cantonment Station on September 18 while the third train for Peshawar on September 19.
The DCO said that effective arrangements have been made to check black marketing of tickets. For this purpose, he added, special teams of commercial officials and staffmen have been deployed at reservation offices Karachi City, Cantonment, and Hyderabad Stations.
Yusufani said that commercial officials would sit at reservation offices during last 10 days of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak while special teams will conduct surprise raids on various up-country bound trains. He further said that passengers giving up their journey plans would be paid 100 percent refund on tickets if returned within 48 hours, 90 percent refund on tickets if returned within 24 to 36 hours and 75 percent if returned within 24 hours.
Tickets that are returned after departure of train, a refund of 50 percent will be made from the divisional office while in other cases refunds will be made in cash from railway stations, he concluded.
