Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Syrian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Mohamed Riad Hussain Ismat on Thursday met and discussed matters of mutual interest to strengthen the bilateral ties. The foreign minister said Pakistan and Syria enjoyed close brotherly relations and there was a great potential for further strengthening their bilateral co-operation in various fields. He assured the Syrian Ambassador of all possible assistance in this regard.
The Syrian Ambassador said his country attached great importance to its relations with Pakistan, adding that he had been working to further strengthen and diversify the bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The two sides agreed on early convening of the 6th session of Pak-Syria Joint Ministerial Commission in Islamabad. They also discussed matters relating to Pakistan International School in Damascus (PISOD) and termed it as a symbol of friendship between the two countries.
