The ICI Pakistan Limited, under its sustainability programme, has launched a tree plantation drive on Canal Road here on Friday. The Parks and Horticultural Authority (PHA) supported this activity and members of media, ICI and PHA attended the launching ceremony.
ICI Pakistan Limited Vice President Sohail Aslam Khan and Parks and Horticulture Authority Additional Director Ashraf Yousafi planted the saplings. On the occasion, they said planting of trees was key to keeping pollution at minimal level.
The drive would see 15000 trees planted along the length of this famous landmark of Lahore over the coming days. The drive is yet another landmark in ICI Pakistan's vast achievements and contributions in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) sphere. Endeavouring to ensure themselves as responsible corporate citizens, the company consistently aims to ensure a sustainable improvement in the lives of the communities they operate in. ICI Pakistan had so far been involved in a number of activities aimed at raising awareness towards environmental issues.
Project Green, started in 1992 at Khewra boasts a thriving tree plantation within an area of 152 acres, reserved specially for this purpose. ICI had also been partnering with renowned organisations like WWF-Pakistan to hold Nature Carnivals in Karachi, where every year school children from over 60 schools participate in educating visitors about crucial environmental concerns.
