The Thai stock market lost 1.91 percent Monday in line with regional markets and a stumble on Wall Street last week, an analyst said. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) composite index fell 13.49 points to close at 694.32, while the blue chip SET-50 index was down 11.24 points to 496.96.
Losers outnumbered gainers 275 to 103 and 87 stocks were unchanged on turnover of 5.4 billion shares worth 24.4 billion baht (719.2 million dollars) The Thai baht was unchanged at 33.95-97 to one dollar. But the baht rose against the euro, closing at 49.32-36 to one euro compared to last week's close of 49.52-55. Kosin Sripaiboon, an analyst at UOB Kay Hian Securities, said Thai shares fell in line with other regional markets following Friday's decline in US stocks. "A fall in oil prices also caused investors to sell energy shares," he said.
