Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy, Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq on Monday said the educational facilities in Karachi and Hyderabad are better than the interior of the province. This he said while addressing to the students on 16th Foundation Day of Commecs Institute of Business and Emerging Sciences (CIBES) as chief guest on Tuesday.
"Sindh is a very backward province of the country and due to increasing inflation, poverty and hunger in the province the education sector could not be addressed," the minister said. He said the government had awarded the charter to the institute on May 30, 2008 for enabling the private educational institute to chalk out its own degree programmes.
Before this, it was working under the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), an excellent business educational institute, which strengthen the base of CIBES, he added. Speaking on the occasion, the principal of CIBES said 16 year back on the same day, CIBES started its journey towards excellence, with the vision and mission of bringing about a quantum change in the quality of education. "Due to hard work of our faculty and administration, CIBES enables to ascend the ladder of success," he added.
"CIBES achieved three top positions in our first public examination of Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) in 1995, the principal said, adding that the achievement proved omen for CIBES since it paved the way for even greater successes to come and claimed 9 out of 10 top positions in the next board examination."
He said the institute was renamed as Commecs Institute of Business and Emerging Sciences CIBES in 2003 after wining some grades in the field of business education and started with pre-engineering group. In 2007 the CIBES took another step forward and commenced pre-medical group and secured first position in the pre-engineering results 2008, the principal of the institute reminded.
He said the managing committee of CIBES comprises of members from all walks of life and each one is an expert in his own field, bringing his own vision and blending it with that of others. The announcement made by provincial government of Sindh on May 30, 2007 is the most important milestone in the CIBES history in which the institute was given the charter for awarding degrees, the principal recalled.
CIBES' degree awarding programme would stand true to the trust's tradition of treading a new value added path in education and for this the management has decided extension in the curriculum of all subjects to be taught in the BBA and MBA programme, the principal vowed, adding that CIBES have engaged renowned subject experts to review the syllabus in accordance with modern needs.
Talking about another achievement of the institute, he said the painstaking efforts and hard work paid of well in this continuum when recently the CIBES management achieved another milestone with the establishment Commecs School of Accountancy (CSA). Located near Nursery, Shara-e-Faisal, which is fully committed for providing quality education in CA, ACCA and CIMA as a recognised institute, he added.
