The Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) on Tuesday appreciated the federal government's move of launching Rs 4 billion Benazir Tractor Scheme aimed at revolutionising the agriculture sector through mechanisation for achieving self-sufficiency in food.
In a statement on Tuesday, the President-elect Asrar Ahmed Awan and Senior Vice President MCCI Khawaja Muhammad Usman said that tractors were essential to enhance agricultural productivity and launching of Benazir Tractor Scheme would go a long way in this regard. They said that this Benazir Tractor Scheme showed commitment of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) government with poor farmers as this was only for farmers having small land holdings.
