Rental Power Plants (RPPs) are likely to add 2000 MW to the power generation system, said Tahir Basharat Cheema, Managing Director of Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco). He was talking to media men at the iftar-dinner hosted by the Chairman Wapda in the honour of journalists here on Tuesday. Cheema said four RPPs would be operational by December, adding some 700 MW to the system and it would be followed by installation of another fifteen RPPs next year.
According to Cheema, an important meeting is being held at Pepco on September 16 (today) to decide on disclosing the names of influential involved in power theft. Further, he said, another agreement with Pakistan State Oil (PSO) on supply of fuel to the RPPs also being signed on Wednesday (today). Chairman Wapda intermingled with the media persons throughout the event and shared his views on various issues on new dams.
