A total of Rs 4.3 billion has been allocated for 65 schemes in Islamabad Development Package, including health, education, gas and rural development, for three years, said an Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) report on Friday.
The report said that a total of Rs 3.15 billion for four schemes of education; Rs 740 million for 51 schemes of rural development; Rs 282.243 million for five schemes of health; and Rs 128.4 million for five schemes of gas supply had been allocated. According to the report, a total of Rs 1.076 billion has been released, while Rs 3.224 billion were not released.
On the other hand, a total amount of Rs 351.068 million has been allocated in 2009-10 budget for 69 rural development schemes. For this purpose, as many as 37 schemes, costing Rs 228 million, have been completed, while 32 schemes are in progress. According to report of development package, Rs 641.5million, being the total cost for the construction of Bari Imam Complex have been allocated, while Rs 110 Million were spent and 30 percent work on project has been completed.
Similarly, a total of Rs 38.043 million allocated for the construction of 20 Patwar Khanas at Bhara Kau and Tarlai, while Rs 18.303 million has been spent. The report said that a total of Rs 36.978 million was allocated for the construction of residential accommodation for officers of ICT at Tarlai. A sum of Rs 18.842 million was spent and 50 percent project has been completed.
The report said that Rs 419.207 million had been allocated for the construction of Judicial and Admin Complex, whereas Rs 344.94 million were spent and the project has been completed on time. Similarly, Rs 18.797 million were allocated for the construction of revenue service centre at Golra, but the work could not start on the project due to site dispute.
The report said the excise and taxation department of the capital had collected Rs 738.8 million revenue during 2008-09. Most of the revenue was collected form registration, transfer of vehicles, road tax, CVT, entertainment duty, education cess, alcohol, registration of real estate agents and motor, vehicles dealers and others.
As many as 18 Madaris were not registered in Islamabad so far despite of the fact the government had started the process of registration in 2005, it said. The report said that there were 140 Madaris in the capital, while 122 had been registered. There were as many as 800 mosques, 87 Auqaf mosques, 15 Imambarghs and two Auqaf Imambarghs in Islamabad.
