Fixing of sugar price: contempt petition filed against government functionaries
Former President of Lahore Tax Bar Association, Shafqat Mehmood Chohan has filed a petition before Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking contempt proceedings against government functionaries for not complying with LHC order of fixing of sugar price.
The petitioner made respondents to Minister of Industries and Production Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, Chief Secretary Punjab Javed Mehmood, Secretary Commerce Salman Siddique, Chairman Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA) Sikandar and its Punjab chapter President Javed Kiyani.
The petitioner submitted that the respondents despite complying with the court orders started uttering derogatory remarks against it, which amounts to contempt of court. He prayed to the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the respondents for not complying with court orders of fixing sugar price at Rs 40 per kg.
