Parents and Youth Advocacy Awareness Movement (Payaam), an independent non-governmental and non-political social welfare foundation, organised "EID FOR ALL" at Edhi Home here on Sunday.
The objective of organising the event was to inculcate awareness among the masses especially in youth that while celebrating our religious festivals we should not forget the have-nots like widows, orphans and old age people leading life of ignorance by their near and dear ones at orphanage/old age houses etc.
The event was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life. A large of number of volunteers from various educational institutions of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad participated in it.
Payaam distributed eidi, clothes, toys and food among the orphans, widows and old age people so that they could also participate in the festivity. To add more colour to the occasion a small mesmerising magic show was arranged to entertain the kids. All children paid heed to the magic show and glee could easily be seen in the whole environment. Basit Subhani, President Payaam, gave an awesome musical performance and rocked the event.
A number of stalls of mehndhi and bangles were set up for ladies. The event was the second phase of Payaam's "Spreading special Colours of Eid for Special Children" project. The First phase of the project was initiated on September 17, 2009 when Payaam distributed wheelchairs, food and cloths among the disable children.
Talking to media Basit Subhnai said that it is a great honour for Payaam to organise such events within its own limited resources.
He said that it is the right of every Muslim to fully rejoice his religious festivals. And being among privileged people it's our prime responsibility to facilitate such people who do not have resources to buy clothes and other stuff to celebrate such occasions, he added.
