The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has planned to set up swift centres in small cities to facilitate the people of rural areas who have not yet get issued their computerised national identity cards.
According to the Authority's spokesman, Nadra, in first phase, has already established its swift centres at Alipur Chattha, Ghakkar Mandi and Chung near Lahore while it is planning to set up more offices in second phase at Kanganpur (Kasur), Hajveri Town (Faisalabad), Raiwind, Qila Didar Singh and Sharqpur Sharif (Sheikhupura).
He said that the Nadra Chairman has taken this step on the federal government's direction so that the people in rural area, particularly women, could be issued their computerised national identity card free of cost. The issuance of new computerised cards would help them get benefit of the government schemes like Benazir Income Support Fund (BISF), he added. He further said that the operation of mobile unit is also being strengthened to cover maximum towns, and small cities.
