The government has restricted the movement of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, chief of banned organisation, Jamaatud Dawa, his spokesman Yahya Mujahid said on Monday. Mujahid told NNI that Hafiz Saeed was not allowed to lead Eid-ul-Fitr prayer at Gaddafi Stadium. He said Saeed leads Eid prayers every year at Gaddafi Stadium. However, his son led the Eid prayers.
He also said that no written orders were shown by the authorities for restricting his movement. The Jamaatud Dawa chief has been blamed by India for masterminding the Mumbai terror attacks. India has been insisting that Pakistan should take action against Saeed for his alleged role in masterminding the Mumbai attacks.
Interior Minister, Rehman Malik said on Saturday that Hafiz Saeed has been under investigation in the Mombay attacks. Saeed was also placed under house arrest in December last year after the UN Security Council declared the JuD a terrorist organisation. He was freed on the orders of the Lahore High Court in June this year.
Earlier, Lahore High Court has declared the detention of Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed and three other members of his party unlawful. The Lahore High Court ordered the release of Jamaatud Dawa chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed and said there was no sufficient ground to detain and link him to the Mumbai attacks.
