Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday called on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at his Lahore residence and extended Eid greetings. Overall political situation in the country and matters related to army operation in Malakand and the welfare of the dislocated persons from that area came under discussion during the meeting.
Mian Shahbaz Sharif congratulated the Prime Minister that law and order situation in most parts of the country remained under control during Ramazan as well as on Eid. He briefed the Prime Minister on the measures taken by the Punjab government for ensuring relief to common man through 'sasta bazaars' during Ramazan by providing essential food items on subsidised rates.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction that the dislocated persons of Swat and Malakand returned to their homes before Eid and were able to celebrate the religious festival with their dear ones. The prime minister said that he would also discuss matters relating to the Malakand operation with PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif on his return from Umra.
