The Swiss franc remained on firm footing against the euro on Friday ahead of two speeches from Swiss central bank policy makers and as markets were starting to get nervous about renewed interventions. "The EUR/CHF continues to drift lower into possibly the Swiss National Bank's intervention zone," Credit Suisse said in a research note." Key focus today will be the speeches by SNB members Jordan and Hildebrand.
The franc was little changed against the euro compared to the New York close, trading at 1.5095 per euro. On Thursday, the euro-franc had dropped below 1.51, a level not seen since the Swiss National Bank's last intervention at the end of June. The franc was sligthly firmer against the dollar at 1.0278 per dollar.
