South Korea's stock market is expected to take a breather due to uncertainties over upcoming economic data, an analyst said. The benchmark KOSPI lost 8.23 points or 0.48 percent over the week to end at 1,691.48 on Friday.
Analysts said retail investors poured money back into the market but dealers feel uncomfortable after hefty recent gains in a short period of time without fresh upward momentum.
"A wait-and-see mode will likely preside for a while due to uncertainties over various economic data due in the next two weeks and ahead of the national Chuseok holiday in the first week of October," Oh Hyun-Seok of Samsung Securities told Dow Jones Newswires.
