In occupied Kashmir, even as the High Court had directed the passport authorities to issue passport to a law student, Naseer Ahmad Shah within three days, he did not receive it after the passage of 14 days. The delay means that Naseer will miss the chance to seek admission in a prestigious college in London.
The High Court Judge, Justice Hakeem Imtiyaz Hussain, hearing the petition filed by LLM student, Naseer Ahmad Shah regarding the denial of passport, had termed the act as unlawful and directed the authorities to issue the passport to the applicant.
During the proceedings, counsel of the petitioner, Muhammad Ashraf Wani, had informed the court that he had completed his LLB degree five years ago. The petitioner said that he desired to continue his studies abroad and he got admission in Holborn College in London. He applied for passport in 2004 but he didn't get it yet. He has no criminal case pending against him and the passport authorities and the Indian secret agencies are ruining his career, he said.
Justice Hakeem Imtiyaz Hussain said that it was unlawful for police and the department to prevent an aspiring lawyer from going abroad for further studies by denying him the travel documents.
