Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) is facing power shortage of 460 megawatts, which has forced the management to carry out six hours long load shedding in urban localities and eight hours load shedding in rural parts of Sindh province except Karachi.
A Hesco spokesman informed on Friday that due to shortage of 460 megawatts electricity, the Hesco management is carrying out six hours duration load shedding in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur and other urban parts of Sindh besides eight hours duration load shedding in rural parts of the province.
The load management programme is being carried out at different timings during 24 hours in a day, he said and added that timing of load management was also being communicated to the consumers through print and electric media on regular basis.
The spokesman made it clear that no unannounced load shedding is being carried out in any part, however there may be cases of power failure due to technical fault in power transmission system. The spokesman appealed to the customers to pay their outstanding dues in time and use the electricity through legal connections.
The use of electricity through illegal means is a crime and making Kunda on high voltage wire, could claim the life of those, who are involved in power theft, he said. He also called upon them to dial Hesco Toll Free No: 0800-84338 in case they notice power theft in their respective areas. The name of informers will be kept in secrete, he added.
