July 31 verdict pertaining to PCO judges: petition filed before Supreme Court challenging formation of 14-member bench

Removed additional judge of Lahore High Court (LHC) Zulfiqar Ali Bokhari here on Friday filed a civil miscellaneous application before Supreme Court challenging the formation of 14-member bench of the apex court to hear review petitions against July 31 judgement pertaining to PCO judges. Earlier, Zulfiqar Ali had filed a review petition challenging the landmark judgement of SC announced on July 31.
In his application he said majority of the judges who handed down July 31 judgement had taken oath under PCO in year 2000 promulgated by former president Pervez Musharraf. He said the elevation of judges after consultation with Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar as Chief Justice, who took oath under PCO suffered from constitutional infirmity and so their elevations were held to be invalid appointed.
