Hundreds of old Kohatians reunited at the Faizullah Khan Khattak auditorium of Cadet College, Kohat, with the NWFP Minister for Finance Engr. Mohammad Humayun Khan, who was invited as chief guest. In this connection a grand function was arranged by the Kohatians Association, which is a registered organisation bringing together the alumni of the Cadet College, Kohat.
The function started with the welcome address of the Principal Brigadier Inamullah Khan (Retd) who welcomed the old Kohatians in their reunion and stated that the CCK had contributed much in the formation of a number of lives of young boys. He said being a residential educational institution; the cadets had spent significant lives adolescence in the CCK.
He expressed gratitude to the NWFP Finance Minister Engineer, Mohammad Humayun Khan, who is also a Kohatian, for gracing the occasion and reminded his constructive efforts for the well being of the college. He especially commended the last year generous financial assistance from the minister finance in the development of the CCK.
Central President of the Kohatians Association, Ihsan Ghani, while highlighting aims and objectives of the association disclosed that the alumni of CCK, which was called Kohatians, had now being organised in the Kohatians Association and Kohatians Welfare Foundation.
He said those two sister organisations were taking a number of initiatives to contribute towards the betterment of the life of the people in different ways. He said most of the activities of the two bodies had been limited to support activities for those directly related to the college. He said that was the feeling that the time had come for the group to look beyond the college.
He said the Kohatians had decided to contribute towards the overall development of the country and the establishment of the Kohatians Welfare Foundation was one of the steps towards that direction. He also put before the audience the organisational structure and regulations of the Kohatians Association.
He disclosed that the KA was able to secure Rs 30 million for the development of the CCK from the NWFP government last year. He said it was also looking towards national and international members on the net to contribute in this struggle of the Kohatians.
General Secretary of the KA Khwaja Muhammad Yahya, Dr Ikram Ghani and many other Kohatians also spoke on the occasion and disclosed that chapters in major towns of the country and abroad had been organised. They also explained the achievements of the KA and the future targets of the Kohatians Welfare Foundation (KWF).
A question-answer session was also held in which the office-bearers of the KA gave replies to a number of questions from the old Kohatians. Majority of the questions was regarding exploration of income generating resources of the KWF and increasing the funds for the larger interests of the Kohatians. The function ended with serving a lunch on the old Kohatians and their families with a commitment to work wholeheartedly for the welfare of the CCK and the people of Kohat.
